Krátkodobý výpadek Moodle 30.4.2026

Short-term Moodle outage on April 30, 2026

On the afternoon of April 30, 2026, there was a brief outage of the Moodle system, which also affected some of the testing at the FEM Testing Center.

According to automated monitoring, the issue was detected at approximately 3:18 p.m. At that time, the Moodle system stopped responding normally, and it was not possible to continue working on the tests reliably. Access was subsequently restored, and the last check at 3:36 p.m. confirmed that the system was functioning properly.

Impact on testing

The outage affected some of the students who were taking a test at the FEM Testing Center at the time. Some students interrupted their tests and left the Testing Center because, at the time of the outage, there was no precise information available regarding when the system was expected to be restored. Some of the students subsequently returned and completed their tests; however, it cannot be assumed that all those affected did so.

According to subsequent records, the outage affected a total of 33 students across multiple courses. The affected instructors were notified and provided with a list of students whose testing experience may have been disrupted.

Measures taken

Immediately after the outage, the following steps were taken:

  1. verifying Moodle availability through monitoring,
  2. notifying the affected instructors,
  3. providing lists of students affected by the outage,
  4. recommending an individual assessment of the situation for the affected students.

Testing centers do not participate in the pedagogical evaluation of tests in this case. Their role is to identify the technical issue, document its duration, and provide teachers with information about students who may have been affected by the outage.

Recommendations for Teachers

For students listed in the submitted rosters, we recommend assessing on a case-by-case basis whether the absence could have affected the course or outcome of the test. In justified cases, alternatives such as a make-up date, a retake, or other solutions in accordance with the specific course’s rules may be considered.

Summary

The Moodle outage on April 30, 2026, was brief but disrupted part of an ongoing test. Access to Moodle was restored at 3:36 p.m. that same day, and the affected instructors were notified of the students whose test experience may have been disrupted.
